A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, a member of the M42 network and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) to further research and education. These two areas are essential to the hospital's goal of creating a sustainable healthcare ecosystem in the United Arab Emirates.

As per the terms of this Memorandum of Understanding, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and MBZUAI will collaborate on research and educational projects that will open up a wide range of opportunities. These projects may include working together on joint research projects, starting research groups and creating undergraduate and graduate student mentorship programmes.

"The signing of this MoU strengthens the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi's vision to position the emirate as an advanced life sciences hub for innovation that is supported by talent, research and technology," stated Dr. Sawsan AbdelRazig, Chief Academic Officer of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. We can investigate the limitless applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in research and education to forecast and mould the healthcare model and community of the future by combining the strengths of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and MBZUAI.

Professor Timothy Baldwin, Acting Provost of MBZUAI, stated: "We are thrilled to work with Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi to develop and advance professional talent and direct healthcare delivery. One of MBZUAI's main pillars is healthcare and we are working to advance AI research and development in this area as well as helping healthcare professionals in their work and spreading awareness of the applications of AI in the industry. Some of the areas we are working on include brain health, digital twins and diagnostics. Through this partnership, Abu Dhabi will be able to become a centre for AI-enabled healthcare, strengthening engagement and advancing advancements in the field.
